A beautiful setting, good music, great food, incredible summer weather—it all came together for our All-Alumni Reunion Celebration held on June 4th. And because this was the first such gathering since the pandemic began, the good vibes were off the chart.
More than 100 alums were on scene at the elegant Buffalo History Museum, many responding to an invitation from their class ambassadors. “It was a great turnout considering that it was the first weekend of summer and that weekend was busy for everyone,” says Elizabeth Kraengel ’07, incoming president of the UB Law Alumni Association, who chaired the planning committee with vice president, Hon. Henry Nowak Jr. ’93. “And the weather couldn’t have been better.”
The attendees lightened things up in the museum’s historic auditorium, where a professional quizmaster ran them through a fast-paced trivia competition that included law school-specific questions. (How many floors does O’Brian Hall have? It’s seven, if you’ve forgotten.) Though Dean Aviva Abramovsky showed off some excellent trivia chops, it was a team led by event committee member and LAA director Stephanie Calhoun ’08 that took home bragging rights.
Other highlights: a soundtrack by the band Jelly Jar, featuring Bill Savino ’75 on guitar and Ken Africano ’85 at the keyboard; and posh catering by Oliver’s Restaurant. Kraengel reports that the Class of 1982 had the strongest showing in terms of numbers.
“It’s a spectacular setting, and everyone was so happy,” says Vice Dean for Alumni Ilene Fleischmann, executive director of the Law Alumni Association. “They were all walking around with a big smile on their face.”
