Maryann Saccomando Freedman ’58, a long-time leader of the Buffalo legal community, was re-elected president of the Association for a Buffalo Presidential Center, in Buffalo, where she resides. Freedman is of counsel with Cohen & Lombardo.
Angelo F. LaDuca ’62 of Grand Island, N.Y., will have an art show, “Angelo LaDuca Celebrates Being 80 With an Art Show,” at the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village Museum in Amherst, N.Y., throughout October. Forty-two works of art by LaDuca will be on display. He is a retired real estate broker, general contractor, land developer and property manager.
Diane F. Bosse ’76 has been named vice chair of the Council of the American Bar Association’s section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar. She is special counsel with Hurwitz & Fine in Buffalo. Bosse is a past recipient of a Law Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumna Award and an emerita member of the Dean’s Advisory Council. She lives in Clarence, N.Y.
Louis P. DiLorenzo ’76 is listed in the 2017 New York Metro Super Lawyers. He is managing partner in the labor, employment, employee benefits and immigration practice group of Bond Schoeneck & King in the New York City office. DiLorenzo is an emeritus member of the School of Law’s Dean’s Advisory Council. He lives in Romulus, N.Y.
Donnalynn Darling ’78 of Glen Head, N.Y., is listed in the 2017 New York Metro Super Lawyers. She is chair of the personal injury and education law practice groups with Meyer Suozzi English & Klein in Garden City, N.Y.
Robert M. Elardo ’81 of Buffalo received the Tanya Neiman Pro Bono Professional of the Year Award from the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals. He is executive director of the Bar Association of Erie County Volunteer Lawyers Project in Buffalo.
Gregory T. Ivancic ’82 has been inducted into St. Joseph Collegiate Institute’s Signum Fidei Society. He is a partner with Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman in Buffalo. Ivancic resides in Kenmore, N.Y.
John P. Thielman ’87 was named Top Professor by the PMBA Class of 2017 at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business in Atlanta. He is associate director of the Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk and clinical professor of legal studies at Georgia State University, also in Atlanta. Thielman lives in Alpharetta, Ga.
Thomas J. Colson ’88 has become of counsel with Simpson & Simpson in Buffalo. He is a registered patent attorney and president and general counsel of Executive IP in Fairport, N.Y. Colson lives in Clarence Center, N.Y.
Steven J. Weiss ’91 was named to the Williamsville High School Wall of Fame in Williamsville, N.Y. He is a founding partner with Cannon Heyman & Weiss in Buffalo, and a member of the University at Buffalo School of Law’s Dean’s Advisory Council. Weiss is a Buffalo resident.
Hon. Javier E. Vargas ’92 was named the 2017 Latino Judge of the Year by the Hispanic National Bar Association. He is a judge with Kings County Family Court in Brooklyn, N.Y. Vargas is a resident of New York City.
William K. Kennedy ’93 was named to the board of directors of Shakespeare in Delaware Park, in Buffalo. Kennedy is a partner with Rupp Baase Pfalzgraf Cunningham in the Buffalo office. He lives in East Amherst, N.Y.
Jennifer R. Pitarresi ’93 received the 2017 Distinguished Alumna Award from Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, N.Y. Pitarresi is director of risk and insurance services for the County of Niagara in Lockport, N.Y. She is a resident of Niagara Falls, N.Y
Hon. Amanda L. Meredith ’97 was appointed judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims in Washington, D.C. She previously served as deputy staff director and general counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in Washington, D.C. Meredith lives in Alexandria, Va.
Bridget E. Niland ’98 will be inducted into the Williamsville High School Wall of Fame in Williamsville, N.Y., on October 27. Niland is athletic director and special assistant to the president of Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y., where she resides.
Scott R. Simpson ’05 has become counsel with Harter Secrest & Emery in the Rochester, N.Y., office. Simpson practices in the firm’s health care practice group. He previously served as assistant general counsel with Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, where he resides.
Tyler T. Hendry ’10 is listed in the 2017 New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Stars. Hendry is an associate with Bond Schoeneck & King, practicing labor and employment law in New York City, where he resides.
Rody Damis '13 will receive the 2017 Emerging Alumnus Award presented by the UB School of Management at its 68th Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Millennium Hotel in Cheektowaga, N.Y. Damis is a legislative analyst in the Office of Management and Budget within the Executive Office of the President of the United States. He resides in Washington, D.C.
Katie L. Kestel Martin ’13 is practicing with Pusatier Sherman Abbott & Sugarman in Buffalo. Martin counsels clients regarding Social Security disability and matrimonial law. She was previously an attorney in the legal services and advocacy department of the Mental Health Association of Erie County, in Buffalo. Martin is also vice state lead ambassador for New York with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. She lives in Tonawanda, N.Y.
Samuel A. Alba ’14 of Williamsville, N.Y., has been promoted to junior partner with Friedman & Ranzenhoffer in Buffalo. He handles cases involving personal injury, criminal defense, and employment and consumer class actions.
Jill R. Roloff ’15 has become associated with Rupp Baase Pfalzgraf Cunningham. Roloff practices in the firm’s insurance defense litigation practice group in the Buffalo office. She lives in West Seneca, N.Y.
Katherine L. Wood ’16 has joined Hurwitz & Fine in Buffalo as an associate. Wood concentrates her practice in employment law counseling and litigation. She is a Buffalo resident.
