The intense experience of law school can sometimes surface physical or mental health challenges, and UB School of Law students aren’t immune. Now, in a time when society in general is more aware of these concerns, the school continues to expand its efforts to make help readily available to students who need it.
Their hard-won skills in legal mediation will be put to an international test next month when a two-person student team will represent UB School of Law at a major competition in Paris.
The School of Law’s Puerto Rico Recovery Assistance Legal Clinic is in the midst of its fifth service-learning trip to the island where a #UBLawResponds team of students and faculty are continuing legal and policy work to support a resilient Puerto Rico.
“We’ve had technology start-ups and computers,” says Aleece Burgio ’15. “In the next decade or so, I’m convinced that marijuana is going to be the boom industry.”
Our Civil Liberties & Transparency Clinic has hired Michael Higgins as a staff attorney and clinical teaching fellow who will continue the Clinic’s work in the areas of government accountability and freedom of the press.
Former U.S. Attorney Michael A. Battle will receive the 2020 Edwin F. Jaeckle Award, the highest honor the University at Buffalo School of Law and the UB Law Alumni Association can bestow.
