The hometown team came up big in the American Bar Association’s 18th annual regional mediation competition, held at UB School of Law on March 4 and 5, 2017.
Law student Kerry Battenfeld ’17, along with graduating students from Harvard, Berkeley and Georgetown, has been selected to receive a prestigious Immigrant Justice Corps (IJC) fellowship. Battenfeld and 24 other fellows will represent immigrants fighting deportation and seeking lawful status and citizenship.
A team of the law school’s finest tested their mediation talents in a global competition held in Paris, France. Joseph R. Lavoie ’17 and Charles J. Cook ’17 represented UB School of Law in the International Commercial Mediation Competition, a six-day competition held February 3-8, 2017.
The scholar and teacher who has guided UB School of Law for more than two years as interim dean has received the school’s highest honor, the Edwin F. Jaeckle Award.
Marking 25 years of professional development and collegiality, the UB Law GOLD Group hosted a spectacular celebration honoring its past presidents and founding members. The Law Alumni Association’s Executive Director Ilene Fleischmann provided remarks at the event commending the Group for its development and training of leaders for the Western New York bench and bar.
Five alumni who have gone on to succeed in widely varied types of practice will be honored as the UB Law Alumni Association confers its Distinguished Alumni Awards at its Annual Dinner on May 4.
