The Student Advisory Board is the heart of the Buffalo Human Rights Center, providing it direction and support. Members assist the Faculty Director and Student Co-Directors in programming and planning human rights-related events, speakers, activities, and trainings based on student interests and priorities.
Bailey P. Hughes '25 is working towards a concentration in International Law. Her involvements on campus range from her membership as the Communications Chair for the Buffalo Public Interest Law Program to an Associate of the Buffalo Human Rights Law Review.
Outside of her schoolwork she is the Board Secretary for the Turkish Cultural Center of Rochester, and Advisory Board Member for Advocates of Silenced Turkey, and the Senior Editor for Salaam Magazine.
Thomas McKenna '25 is currently in the International Law Concentration and is an Associate Editor with the Buffalo Human Rights Law Review. He is also a 2L class director with the Student Bar Association.
McKenna received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University at Albany.
Jess Williams '26 (BA) is a sophomore majoring in both Law and Political Science. She is also minoring in American Sign Language and Community Development and Organizing and currently the president of UB's undergraduate Mock Trial Club. Eventually, Jess hopes to earn a law degree and a master's degree in social work to continue her work in fighting to defend human rights.
