An educator at her core, Kate has held many spaces in the international education community. Upon completion of her baccalaureate degree in English from SUNY Purchase, she moved to South Korea for an opportunity teaching English as a Second Language at a public middle school in Seoul.
While in Korea, Kate further accepted an English lecturer role and completed a master’s degree in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory from Kyung Hee University. In her spare time, she joined a team of editors to compile and translate a book of Korean sex trafficking survivor stories through the NGO Dasi Hammke, and worked with other English teachers to create an English language learning network for recently resettled North Korean refugees.
Upon returning to Buffalo Kate joined the Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education department as an ESL teacher, bringing her passion for Buffalo and commitment to education to the refugee and immigrant community. In 2018, she was offered a role with the University at Buffalo department of International Education as an International Admissions Advisor.
In her current position as Manager for International Enrollment and Recruitment, Kate employs her love of people and aspires to both improve access to educational opportunities for all and globalize the University at Buffalo School of Law community. She brings her positive attitude and grounding perspective to all prospects with the intention of promoting positive outcomes and reducing the stress of the application process!
Fun Fact: Kate has been collecting vintage clothing and accessories for more than twenty years.
