George Brown, Jr. graduated with a B.A from the University at Buffalo in 2012 with a Double Major in Political Science and Psychology. He was a magna cum laude graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Law in 2017, where he was Publications Editor on the Buffalo Law Review and Co-chair of Fundraising for the Buffalo Public Interest Law Program (BPILP). Following graduation, Brown practiced commercial real estate and corporate law at Harris Beach PLLC, representing purchasers and sellers in commercial sale transactions, corporate entities in negotiations of contracts and assisting with day-to-day corporate legal issues, landlords and tenants in negotiations of commercial leases, and financial institutions in the negotiation of commercial loans.
In 2020, Brown moved into an in-house counsel role with Life Storage, Inc., a publicly-trade REIT headquartered in Buffalo, NY. He began as Life Storage’s Real Estate Counsel, where he managed the day-to-day real estate issues arising across its nation-wide portfolio of stores. In 2021, Brown became Life Storage’s Associate Counsel, Acquisitions, becoming the company’s first in-house counsel in the Acquisition Department. During Brown’s tenure as Associate Counsel, Acquisitions, Life Storage acquired more than $3.78 Billion in properties and assets. In this role, Brown worked on all aspects of an acquisition, starting from the LOI stage, and managing the transaction until all post-closing obligations were satisfied. He was also in charge of the legal issues for Life Storage’s third-party subsidiary, Life Storage Solutions, LLC, where he negotiated all manner of contracts and agreements on behalf of the subsidiary. During his tenure at Life Storage, Life Storage Solutions, LLC added more than 350 stores to their property management portfolio.
Brown teaches the third semester of the Law School’s legal analysis, research, and writing (LAWR) program, where he introduces students to practical legal writing issues and assignments typically found in legal practice.
