Beth Adelman is the Director of the Charles B. Sears Law Library and Vice Dean for Legal Information Services at the University at Buffalo School of Law. She is a 2011 recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship.
Adelman teaches Research Lab, a 1L course focusing on legal research skills. Previous courses taught include Legal Bibliography and New York Legal Research in the law school setting and Legal Information Sources in the library school setting. She is the lead author of New York Legal Research, now in its fourth edition, published by Carolina Academic Press. She has published other books, book chapters, articles, and tutorials on teaching legal research and academic law libraries.
An active American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) member, Adelman is currently AALL’s Immediate Past President. She has also chaired AALL’s Academic Law Libraries Special Interest Section and AALL’s Annual Meeting Program Committee.
Adelman served as Interim Vice Provost for University Libraries at the University at Buffalo from June 2018–July 2019. She holds a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School and a Master of Library Science from the University at Buffalo.
