The University at Buffalo School of Law is proud to have a diverse group of faculty members who bring insights from unique past and present experiences. Though many faculty members produce research and scholarship during their time in the classroom, many choose to continue to practice law and teach as adjunct professors. Here are some of our fantastic faculty who hold a great deal of experience in the legal profession, while also teaching courses here at UB Law.
Hon. Eugene Fahey most recently joined our Adjunct Faculty to teach a course in the Spring of 2022. The course, “Amicus Brief Practicum”, introduces students to the fine points of creating a persuasive amicus curiae brief, the friend-of-the-court filing by an interested party not directly involved in the case. Fahey currently teaches the course alongside Michael Pastrick, who served as Fahey’s senior principal law clerk for many years.
Elizabeth Kraengel has more than fifteen years of legal practice experience in the Buffalo area, and annually teaches “New York Practice”, a course on civil procedure in New York based on the real-life experiences of a member of the local bar.
Paul Moskal has more than thirty-five years of experience in multi-faceted investigative, and intelligence operations management, including twenty-nine years in the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent and Division Counsel. He most recently co-taught “Corporate Compliance Conduct” with Professor Davidzik, a course exploring the framework underlying the recent surge in Ethics and Compliance programs.
Hon. Betty Calvo-Torres has both experience as an attorney and judge. Hon. Calvo-Torres utilizes her knowledge and unique experiences to teach a variety of courses here at UB Law. She most recently taught “Handling A Criminal Case”, an interactive course that guides students through the process of successfully managing a criminal case.
Scott Bylewski has more than twenty years of experience as an attorney, mediator, and arbitrator. He most recently taught “Current Topics in Local Government”, which explores current matters and topics confronting Western New York municipalities.
We hope you found this brief showcase of our Adjunct Faculty’s experiences and passions as interesting as we did! If you would like to learn more about our other Adjunct Faculty you can explore the complete list of faculty on our website.
