The announcement of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization marks a monumental setback to the rights of women to make personal decisions about their healthcare. In the dissent, Justices Breyer, Sotomayor and Kagan write, “Whatever the exact scope of the coming laws, one result of today’s decision is certain: the curtailment of women’s rights, and of their status as free and equal citizens.”
The University at Buffalo School of Law is resolute in our mission of promoting justice. As the State of New York’s law school, we support Governor Kathy Hochul in her commitment to protecting access to safe reproductive healthcare as a fundamental human right. And we remain dedicated to preparing future lawyers and leaders who will fight to defend our inalienable rights and uphold justice for all.
