Our Students
The Women, Children & Social Justice Clinic was established to enhance law students' academic experience and increase the pool of attorneys knowledgeable and responsive to issues of domestic violence.
The Clinic offers second or third–year students practical experience though work on special projects and placements in agencies and organizations throughout the region that are involved in the issue of family violence. The Clinic provides students with an array of legal experiences in which the student may wish to specialize that include placement within a civil law (i.e. matrimonial, family law), criminal law (i.e. domestic violence prosecution or defense), or community-based setting or work on legislative/policy/research projects. Please see our Placements and Projects pages for greater detail.
- Students may take our Clinic as part of their Concentration requirement. Please see individual Concentration details before registering.
- Students in the Criminal Law LL. M. may take the Clinic to fulfill a course requirement.
- Students in the J.D./MSW Program may take the Clinic as their field placement.
Graduates of the clinic are prosecutors, legal service providers and attorneys in a variety of community based organizations as a result of their specialized training in family violence.
