Faculty's Work Abroad
Clinical Professor Suzanne Tomkins has served as a consultant for the U.S. Department of State’s Project Harmony and the American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Project. In 2000 she traveled to Ushgarod, Ukraine and Novgarod, Russia to assist in creating a coordinated community response to domestic violence.
In 2009 and 2010 Professor Tomkins presented at the International Domestic Violence Conferences sponsored by the Office of the Prosecutor de General in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She continues to provide consultation to assist the region of Minais Gerais in their response to domestic violence. In 2011, Professor Tomkins, along with 2 clinic students, traveled to Tanzania as part of the Buffalo Tanzania Education Project. They brought solar cookers and birth kits in conjunction with a long term resource exchange and research project in the remote village of Kitenga.
