CHILDREN & SOCIAL JUSTICE CLINIC
at University of Buffalo Law School
The Clinic
was established to enhance law students’ academic experience and increase
the sensitivity of attorneys and the community to issues of domestic violence.
Women, Children & Social Justice Clinic is offered to students as part of the Law School’s Legal Assistance
Program. It offers second or third – year students practical experience
though work on special projects and placements in agencies and organizations
throughout the region that are involved in the issue of family violence.
The Clinic provides
students with an array of legal experience in which the student wishes
to specialize that include placement within a civil law (i.e matrimonial,
family law), criminal law (i.e. Domestic Violence Prosecution or Defense),
or community based setting or work on legislative/policy/research projects.

Students in the Family
or Criminal Law Concentrations may take this Clinic as part of their program.
Students in the Master
of Law degree in Criminal Law may take the Clinic to fulfill a course
requirement.
Students in the JD/MSW
Program may take the Clinic as their field placement.
Graduates of the clinic
have secured positions as prosecutors, legal service providers and attorneys
in a variety of community based organizations as a result of their specialized
training in family violence. |
