Alumni Articles Sought for the Public Interest Law JournalThe Buffalo Public Interest Law Journal, In the Public Interest, is a professional journal published by UB Law students that is committed to publishing articles pertaining to public interest law and policy affecting traditionally underrepresented populations. Law and undergraduate libraries throughout the United States subscribe to this journal and the students who work on it receive invaluable training in cite-checking and editing that assists them in their future law careers. This year, the editors hope to publish at least one article from a graduate of UB Law School. "We want to give UB Law alumni a forum in which they can discuss their experiences and views regarding public interest law," said Danielle Smith, the submissions editor. "The Journal also would like to foster a stronger bond with our alumni so that for years to come, we can continue to provide an outlet for alumni thoughts on public interest law issues." The editors of In the Public Interest are now accepting submissions for publication during the 2009-2010 academic year. "While the Journal would like to have accepted all of the articles for the 2009-2010 year by the end of September 2009, we have a continuous reviewing process. If the article is not accepted for this year, then there is still a chance for next year's publication," said Smith. Submissions should be under 25,000 words in length, including text and footnotes, and any article in access of 35,000 words will only be considered in rare circumstances. If you currently have a project you would like to have considered for publication, please contact them at BPILJournal@gmail.com as soon as possible. |
