Court of Appeals Judge Theodore T. Jones to Speak at New York City Alumni Luncheon
The UB Law Alumni Association will host its annual New York City Luncheon at the historic Union League Club in Manhattan on Friday, January 30. A Law School alumni tradition, the luncheon attracts guests from across the state including those attending the New York State Bar Association's Annual Meeting. This year's featured speaker is Hon. Theodore T. Jones, associate judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. Judge Jones worked as a criminal defense attorney with the Legal Aid Society. He was Law Secretary to Justice Howard A. Jones (no relation) of the New York State Court of Claims. He then entered private practice in Brooklyn. Judge Jones was elected to Supreme Court with a term beginning 1990. He presided over the Juvenile Offender Part which covered all cases involving Juvenile Offenders who were indicted in Kings County from September 1993 to December 1997. Jones sat in the civil term beginning 1998, and in January 2006 became the Administrative Judge of that term. In January 2007, Justice Jones was nominated by Governor Eliot Spitzer to the New York State Court of Appeals. After Senate confirmation in February, Jones was sworn in as an Associate Judge of the Court. Hon. Eugene Pigott '73, also an associate judge of the NYS Court of Appeals, will introduce Judge Jones. The luncheon will begin at 12 noon. The Union League Club is located at 38 East 37th Street at the corner of Park Avenue. The cost is $60 per person for alumni and guests; $40 per person if you graduated from UB Law in 2004 or later. * Register Online |
